About Our Town

The City of Baker is comprised mostly of densely-populated subdivisions and commercial properties, but also contains lowlands, woodlands and farmland. There are approximately 13,835 residents, 198 businesses and five industrial operations within the city limits. The City is comprised of 8.5 square miles and there are 225 miles of roadway within the city limits.


The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is conveniently located only five miles away. In addition, Lane Regional Medical Center and other state-of-the-art medical facilities can be found in nearby Zachary. Baker is a natural hub for various businesses. The City is in close proximity to twenty-five industrial plants employing thousands of workers. ExxonMobil, one of our community partners, has several plants nearby.
