 The
Baker Buffalo Festival had been a yearly event since 1981
to raise money for individual Baker schools and to
increase tourism and interest in the City of Baker. Once
centering on a rodeo, it has since changed to focus on
schools, families and now, BUFFALO WINGS!!!
For the second year in a row, we
will award the most prestigious awards to restaurants:
the "KING OF THE WINGS" and the "PEOPLES
CHOICE" awards, that will go to the best
buffalo wings entered by any restaurant in the
country.
This year we will have two additional
Buffalo Wing contests. One will be held on September
22 at 12:30 p.m.at Greenwood Park and the other will
be on September 29 at 1:30 p.m.
We have many
other family events including a talent contest;
spelling bee; art contest; balloon rides; carnival
rides; pony rides and old-fashioned children games;
ExxonMobil and AT&T, our Festival sponsors, bring the
Discovery Dome (an inflatable planetarium), science
experiments, safety demonstrations, entertainment and
laptop give-aways, They have ensured that we have
superior enrichment, interactive and fun activities
for all children.
We will have an eclectic car
show, and a regionally renowned boxing tournament
sponsored by the National Lightweight Champion
Aristead Clayton.
We have a large presence of
regional enforcement personnel to educate the public
on fire safety, check for proper child-safety seats
and personal welfare.
