The Rotary
Club of Baker was established in 1975. The
Baker Rotary Club is comprised of
community leaders with a mission to offer
what was given to them, back to the
community.
Currently, the Baker
Rotary Club has 19 members that serve the
Baker, Louisiana area. The club
participates in projects ever month that
focus on five avenues of service:
community, future visions, vocational,
foundation and club pursuits.
On
average, they engage in at least two
projects a month. Service projects are
dedicated to help the elderly, schools,
youth and the community. They also promote
international peace and understanding,
increase public awareness and aid in
efforts to eradicate Polio from the world.
The Rotary Club of Baker has been
recognized by Rotary District 6200 for
outstanding service to our community, have
received the Rotary International
Presidential Citation and all members of
the club have contributed to Rotary
Foundation annually since inception.
More than all, Baker Rotarians have
constantly given selflessly in every
conceivable way to the betterment of the
city, community, elder population and
youth.

PolioPlus is
Rotary's flagship program. By the time polio
is eradicated, Rotary club members will have
contributed US $850 million and countless
volunteer hours to immunize more than two
billion children in 122 counties. Rotary is a
spearheading partner in the Global Polio
Eradication Initiative, along with the World
Health Organization, UNICEF, and the U.S.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Founded in
Chicago in 1905 as the
world's first volunteer service organization,
Rotary quickly expanded around the globe.
Today, club members meet weekly to plan
service projects, discuss community and
international issues, and enjoy fellowship.
Clubs are nonpolitical and open to every race,
culture, and creed.
